Studio Update

Good day, Everyone! Well, today marks what was to be the deadline for finishing up the studio. Typical of most renovation projects I'm past due and over budget. Eh, what are you gonna do? Keep on movin'! So past the myriad of physical issues that seemed to come up over the last few weeks (tweaked knee, cold (still sniffling), tweaked knee...again!) that inhibited my progress, I've carefully gotten back in the saddle.

So, once again, I give to you our last leave-off point....

And what followed....

The beginnings of "wallage." Actual drywall simply wasn't an option for me as I was working by myself (that stuff is heavy!) and if you could see behind the photos you'd realize that I'd have had no place to put it anyway. So I went with what I was able to work with on my own. And, sometimes "good enough" is just that.

So that's where I am at the moment...literally. If you walked out there right now this is exactly what you'd find. Well, that and a shabbily dressed "handyman" with just a bit of a smile on his face.

As always....stay tuned.

  1. Looks great! Of course, you have that fancy light - love it. Drywall is heavy { a real test of any relationship is to sheetrock a ceiling with 10 ft. sheets with your partner} and doing the mudwork is tedious, so this was a great way to go!

I wish I had a great studio to work in.
Every time I want to so something artsy I need to clear the dining room table.
    Maybe one day...one FAB day!!!!!

  4. OMG! you have done sooo much while I was gone. Such the busy beaver!!!! Ever so proud of you! I have to say better than most contractors! So what did you use instead of dry wall? How big is this space. Is it the whole garage? Can't wait to see what color your going to paint it in. Yayyyyy!!!!

  5. Well...instead of drywall I've used pegboard and a pressboard. It's certainly not a perfect solution but it's a decent enough compromise. The space is 12' x 12' and not the whole garage. So fortunately there should be room for me and the cars. Priming "the walls" today (2/06/08).

(Dana, you've been pretty busy throwing up comments all over the place...thanks!)
