Sacre Boeuf!

Hi, Kids. Okay, so couldn't get logged in to blogger yesterday which derailed getting any posts done. And, more important, our friends Jeff & Kathleen are visiting from Paris for a few days. So instead of giving y'all hours of delight with my endlessly fascinating insights and scathing wit, I'm gonna have to give what I got to my peeps. Y'feel me?

Blogging will commence on Friday morning. Yes, just before the weekend! Look I am doing the best I can! Jeesh! Y'all get so greedy. ;) Happy Tuesday!

That dripping is the sound of your heart melting.

Frankly, the only thing that got blown away were the candles.

Georgie Porgie, Puddin' and... Cake?

A new cookbook from Gourmet is almost more temptation than I can possibly resist! 1000 recipes?!! Unreal! Should I try to become the new Julie Powell by blogging this cookbook? ;) At least I'd have posts for the next few years!

Love the sound of this dessert. A few fresh raspberries and I'd be good to go. Oh, and maybe some dinner first... y'know just to balance everything out.

The Society, Inc.

"The Society, Inc. is an old haberdashery meets hardware treasure store, specializing in local and global textiles, furniture, homewares and beautiful things collected along the way.

Set up by long time interior stylist Sibella Court in an 1800’s corner shop in Sydney’s Paddington, our shop changes four times a year, each time with a new 'theme' which transports the customer to different societies."

Happy Camper

I am completely insane over these "camping" pieces by Jesper K. Thomsen over at Daytrip Society! Aren't these spectacular?

Daytrip Society has a phenomenal selection of merchandise and I am dying to visit the store in person as the space is spot on. I first heard about them via Holly over at decor8 and I have been swooning ever since. The place makes me one seriously happy camper. Er, uh, so to speak. ;)

This is what random looks like.

Stick With It

Ringmasters

If blogging has done anything for me it has created a visual catalog of my aesthetic leanings and helped me get a better grasp on my sense of style. Honestly, I wasn't as aware of my vintage predilection when I began this thing as I am now. But I think it's safe to say that, for me, everything old is new again.

The lesser part of this whole equation is that, more often than not, when I assess the fashion situation staring back at me in the mirror the only thing that represents vintage is the "old" part. (No, no, no... this isn't going to be some ageist put-down tirade. I'm past that, thankfully.) I'm speaking of the wardrobe... old and, lord knows, T-I-R-E-D, tired! And while recession-confined budgets may have my wallet cinched tighter than I'd care for, I have come across one serious source of inspiration at The Brooklyn Circus! (Which I thankfully came across via the blog "Medusa Speaks". Thank you!!!) One casual perusing and you'll see much of what I aspire to be in the closet department! Lord have mercy! These folks got it goin' on!

You better work!

Three of my multiple personalities. The doctors seem to really like "Dolly". Hmmm?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Missed the boat yesterday as I had a morning work meeting which kept me from my blogging responsibilities. My apologies, Kids. But sometimes it happens. Gotta pay the rent, y'know... since my swimsuit modeling career has all but dried up. Funny thing.

Flaky Friday

I know what you're probably thinking, Kids. "Where's a picture in this post?" It's there you probably just can't see it given that it's a stunning portrait of me and most are simply blinded by my breathtaking beauty. Or maybe I forgot to upload it? Let's just go with the former reason and move on... shall we?

A few guest posts have been done, of course, as I wrap up my time at The English Muse. With the long workday, this is gonna have to suffice for a "post". Gripping as it is in all its literary glory! Maybe even Pulitzer Prize worthy? Oh well, even if I don't get nominated at least I have my looks to fall back on. OH, JUST GO WITH IT! Jeesh. ;)

Hope you all have a loverly weekend, Kids!

Love this photo from photographer James Merrell. A fitting visual reminder that I'm still guest blogging over at The English Muse. Do pop 'round for a cuppa tea!

Let them eat cake? Uh, yeah...TOTALLY!

Agreed. If you want it, get it.

Hi, Kids! How was your weekend? Yes, I'm asking this on a Wednesday! I know, I know. But lots going on and to do! I can't just sit around endlessly admiring myself all day, y'know... things to do sometimes.

It was Kendall's birthday over the weekend so we were out n' about doing this and that. But plotting out blog posts didn't happen to make the list. Sue me. Strangely, neither did baking which would have seemed a likely progression given the occasion but we left that up to others instead. That is not to say that my love of cake has waned in the least, however! Just as enamored of such sweet confections as ever.

Which is precisely why I swooned when coming across Annie Koelle's sweet "zine" I Want Cake! A petite ode to a baking favorite with illustrations of devotion and recipes to boot! Granted, I may have to come up with a new name for my autobiography but at least Annie is trying to sweeten the deal. (LOVE it, Annie!)

Friday's Flurried Frenzy

From the wonderfully eccentric vision of photographer Eugenio Recuenco!

Oh, Kids. Well, the morning has completely gotten away from me with guest posting and twittering (my bad). I knew I should have put together a post last night but between dinner and Project Runway... well, we were all screwed, what can I say? I gotta get my cross-legged dog out for his morning constitution and throw something on for work before heading out the door! But wanted to stop to wish you all a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!

Be well, play nice, and I'll see ya's all soon!
Happy Weekending!

Be My Guest

Happy Hump Day, Kids! Your Uncle is busting out a guest blogging stint over at The English Muse today! Check out my fo'shizzle, yo!

I can't help it... it's genetic.

Cheese... Cake

Oh, c'mon! The first day of September kinda calls for this don'tcha think? I mean really.

Hi, Kids! Yep, it's me the Uncle. Am I back? Kinda sorta, I suppose. Probably easing back into things at the moment. While I've been missing the blogosphere, it has been a refreshing break. Having one less thing on the to-do list was much appreciated even if it got replaced by a multitude of other things. Did I get all the things done that I set out to do? Um, no. They say that "man makes plans and God laughs". Then the last couple of weeks must have been a veritable comedy festival from "His" perspective. But dents were made which is more than I can say for a couple of weeks ago! A couple of weeks?!! It's been THAT long. Nuts.

Fall is pushing on in a big way. The leaves on some trees have begun lightly falling. The temperatures have dropped and clear mornings are now fog-draped and dew-laden (Sounds very Harlequin Romance, eh? Don't worry... no mentions of anyone's "thrusting manhood" here.). All in all, it has me thinking about Halloween, cool nights, warm cocoa, and how much crap I may or may not get done! Dammit.

I've gotten sucked into A&E's "Hoarders" which has me contemplating what the application process is for that show...? And, how amenable the crew might be in filming me from my best angle. Last night's episode showed a close-up shot of a cover of House Beautiful "101 Best Makeovers" lying on a floor that spanned out into a room of complete chaos. I'm guessing a red wardrobe might help me show up on camera better given the backdrop? But I digress.

I have been baking up a storm while on hiatus. Okay, maybe not a "storm" but somehow "baking up a light breeze" didn't seem as effective from a literary standpoint. Our friends Chance & Temre just had a birthday blowout... Chance's birthday along with their daughter, McKenna's, big "1st". The initial request was for, you guessed it, cupcakes. But my work schedule would have rendered that undertaking useless so I settled on a myriad of layer cakes. Excuse the gold pastry rounds... they're all I could get.

I'm still mulling over the idea of pastry school. Though I have had a few people who think I should just skip it altogether. Some with the background and experience to move their opinion beyond delusional optimism (but thanks, Mom & Dad). But if I did decide to do it, it's the money part that would be the biggest hurdle. I may have to have a blogging fundraiser or something. Ooh! Maybe a Blog-A-Thon?!! That might work. Maybe I can get Marilyn McCoo to do a couple of numbers on my behalf? Mickey Rooney must be desperate for work these days (Yes... he's STILL alive!). The thing is, despite my elusive charms and talents, how am I ever going to engender the same level of cash-producing guilt as a 5-year-old in a wheelchair singing "The Rainbow Connection"?

See, Kids... so much to do.
